Known for the soothing sound of her voice and calming presence, Michelle Smith serves as an educator and advocate. As a trauma-informed clinical hypnotherapist, doula, childbirth educator, and grief care professional based in Central Florida, Michelle has dedicated her career to empowering individuals, couples, and families to navigate the complexities and emotions of life's beginnings and endings, including the sacred space where birth and death meet. Her vocation as a doula began 30 years ago, while attending the births of close friends and family. In 2000, Michelle undertook a very rigorous doula certification program with the Childbirth Enhancement Foundation. Her subsequent professional credentials include certification as a Stillbirthday birth and bereavement doula/chaplain, PAILAdvocate, VBAC doula, Megi high-risk doula, and Body Ready Method Pro. Michelle is honored to have attended over 850 births and counting as a doula and midwifery birth assistant. Michelle founded the Birth Ease Method™ guided relaxation childbirth program and is a birth hypnosis specialist with over 20 years of experience. She is a Calm Birth prenatal meditation teacher, and she was honored to lend her voice to the Calm Birth meditation audio tracks. In her childbirth classes, Michelle teaches parents how to connect with their inner wisdom, release their fears, and develop a deep and profound relaxation habit. Vital skills that serve families not only throughout their pregnancy and birth, but ultimately for the rest of their lives. Michelle has trained extensively in trauma, grief, and perinatal loss. She is proud to be a teacher for The Institute for the Study of Birth, Breath, and Death and to receive certifications directly from both David Kessler and Megan Devine, two of the world’s leading grief experts. Furthermore, Michelle is the host of The Birth Ease Podcast and the Birth Ease Loss Support podcast.An avid learner, Michelle continues to train and certify in her field.
